Röda Kvarn, exhibitionThese images I am exhibiting can be considered an allegory of the return
to a metaphorical Ithaca -a Nordic one
in this case, of course- in which instead of Homer’s Ionic island homeland, takes the form of a box of dreams called Röda Kvarn.
Röda Kvarn is a movie theater where my fascination with images began. Images that spoke to me and evoked
a world very different from my own, which while peaceful, was also monotonous in its perfection. Mine was a world that went no further than the ninety kilometers between Borâs, the city I lived in, and Varberg, the small seaside town when I spent my childhood summers, until I fled both places as a teenager.
My return is not tinged with nostalgia but rather by my astonishment at finding that these modern images were exactly the same as the world I had left behind, as if time had stopped in that small corner of my country that was my world.
